Here is a video demonstrating the 3-D structure and “rocking” motion of the Tensegrity Rocking Side-table. Click here for a photo-collage of the creative process.
“Tensegrity” is an architectural term that is a contraction of “tension” and “integrity” and implies that cables (which are tension) maintain a structure’s integrity by keeping solid elements of the structure in compression. Examples of a tensegrity structures are shown on this Wikipedia page.
